The Digital Coast Roundtable Breakfast Series
The Digital Coast Roundtable's first Breakfast Series panel conversation took place
on Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at 8:00AM at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills. Members
and distinguished guests met to discuss current trends in
the digital cinema industry. The meeting was sponsored by the NASA Far West RTTC
and the Digital Coast Roundtable.
After welcoming remarks by DCR Chairman Kevin Wall, Ken Dozier, Executive
Director of the USC ETTC and the NASA Far West RTTC showcased several "Hot Technologies"
available for commercialization from NASA Ames Research Center. The highlighted
technologies included DCTune, Digital Video, Digital Video Quality and Spacial
Standard Observation. The conversation was moderated by DCR members Robert
Dowling, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of The Hollywood Reporter and David Gajda,
CEO of Hollywood Software, Inc.
Panelists Sean Carey, Senior VP of Corporate Development for Sony Pictures
Entertainment, Mark Kapczynski, Principal at Microsoft - Media and Entertainment
Group and Frank Stirling, Director of Digital Cinema for Boeing answered questions
from the audience about the current state of and future trends in the digital
cinema industry in Southern California. Rohit Shukla, President and CEO of larta
previewed the Hollywood Unstrung II report discussing potential effects of digital
technologies on the entertainment industry.
The Digital Coast Roundtable Breakfast Series is an ongoing series and
will include another event in November.
