Biography of Kenneth S. Williams
Kenneth S. Williams is an advisory consultant for companies and private
equity firms in media and entertainment. He is the former President and
Chief Executive Officer of Ascent Media Group (AMG). In this capacity,
Williams led AMG in setting business strategy and overseeing the company's
postproduction and media services activities as well as next-generation
digital services offerings. With over 70 facilities globally, AMG provides
end-to-end creative services and technology solutions for the creation,
management and distribution of content to major motion picture studios,
independent producers, broadcasters, advertising agencies and other
companies that produce, own and distribute entertainment, news, sports,
corporate, educational, industrial and advertising content.
Prior to joining Ascent Media Group, Williams served as President of
Technicolor Digital Cinema, LLC, a joint venture between Technicolor and
Qualcomm. At Technicolor, Williams was responsible for the commercial
rollout of digital cinema systems and directly oversaw research, product
development and service enhancements.
Previously, Williams held a senior executive position at Stan Lee Media, a
digital entertainment studio that developed and globally commercialized
branded content through the Internet and traditional media.
His 18-year career at Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) culminated as
President of the Digital Studios Division, where he was responsible for its
global digital infrastructure strategy. During this time, he co-founded Sony
Pictures Imageworks and led the development and implementation of the Sony
Pictures Studios Comprehensive Plan, a long-term blueprint for the
establishment of SPE's world headquarters.
Williams has also played key roles in various organizations and charities,
including Director and Past President of the Los Angeles Conservatory, the
Board of Directors of the Music Center/Los Angeles, a trustee of the
University of California, Riverside, as well as Member and Past Chair of the
Entertainment Technology Council, University of Southern California.
Williams received his bachelor's of science from Harvard College and a
master's degree in business policy from Columbia University. He resides in
Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
