Biography of John Farina
John Farina is the founder and Managing Director of Glenbarr Partners, LLC a Southern California based venture capital
fund specializing in technology and biotech. He has a demonstrated history of identifying, building, and running
successful hardware, software and professional services businesses in the area of technology, digital imaging, software
development, e-learning, e-commerce, multi-media, and electronic publishing. Prior to forming Glenbarr, he was the
President of Vidyah, Inc., a company that pioneered the use of interactive video over the internet.
Prior to Vidyah, Farina was the Managing Partner of iXL Ventures and President of iXL's Los Angeles and San Diego offices.
In the Ventures group, Farina oversaw the funding and industry strategy for the e-business accelerator's holding
portfolio. As President of iXL Los Angeles and San Diego, Farina oversaw all business and strategic operations, including
the successful development and launch of hundreds of websites for well known start-ups as well as some of the world’s
largest companies.
Farina has over two decades of leadership expertise in the computer engineering field, having founded the Quintar
Corporation in 1983 and guided it successfully through acquisition (Bell & Howell, 1985), buy-out (Quintar Company, 1990)
and merger (Splash Technology, 1997) over its history. Farina holds a B.S. in Education/Mathematics from Villanova
University, and an M.A. in Communications Management from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School.
