Biography of Denita Willoughby

Denita Willoughby is the Vice President of External Affairs for AT&T. She leads the company’s local government and community affairs activities in the Los Angeles area where her team serves as the face of the company in the community. Ms. Willoughby is responsible for local policy and philanthropic initiatives.

Ms. Willoughby previously served as Vice President of TV Programming where she was responsible for acquiring content for AT&T’s new Internet Protocol (IP) television venture, known as Project Lightspeed. She also has held other leadership roles at AT&T including acting as the Regional Vice President for SBC-West where she had profit and loss responsibility in the business sales market.

Ms. Willoughby holds an engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a MBA from Harvard University. She is the President and Founder of the Hi-Beta Investment Club, and a board member of the Digital Coast Round Table, The Los Angeles Police Foundation, The Los Angeles Urban League, Central Cities Association and the California Legislative Black Caucus Foundation. She was selected by the NAACP as the recipient of the “Black Woman of Achievement” award, and received the New Leader’s Trail Blazer’s Award. Ms. Willoughby has been featured in USA Today, Fortune and Today’s Black Woman.
